Tidal Motion: Jon has constructed the sea through a series of broad, horizontal sweeps and vertical drags. The lower half of the canvas is a dense accumulation of sapphire and indigo, where the physical weight of the paint suggests the volume of a rising tide.

Material Foam: The crests of the waves are a playground for heavy impasto. Using a palette knife, Jon has applied thick, staccato ridges of white paint that sit proud of the canvas. These tactile fragments catch the light of the room, creating a sense of three-dimensional spray that breaks the flat surface of the box canvas.

Atmospheric Pressure: The sky is a masterclass in controlled chaos, with swirling layers of bruised violet and flinty grey. A singular, cross-hatched highlight in the centre-right provides a 'visual compass', drawing the eye through the storm and offering a moment of structural order amidst the high-velocity brushwork.
