The Vertical Thrust: The composition is built on a hypnotic sequence of stacked vertical bands that dominate the five-foot width of the canvas. These vary from broad, scumbled blocks of deep charcoal and midnight blue to high-key, razor-thin slices of textured copper and pale blue, creating a visual acceleration that pulls the eye upward.

Material Accumulation: Jon has applied heavy impasto with a palette knife, leaving horizontal drags and cross-hatched marks visible within the vertical columns. This physical residue catches the ambient light of the home from varied angles, ensuring the surface is never static but functions as a tactile, layered object.

Chromatic Stratification: The painting relies on the deliberate stratification of temperature. Deep, light-absorbing purples and indigos are physically split by incandescent vertical veins of rich amber glaze, creating a permanent visual tension across the expansive surface.
